ChatGPT - Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer

ChatGPT is a tool or an application that allows you to have human-like conversations with a chatbot.

It is a natural language processing tool that is powered by Artificial Intelligence.

ChatGPT was developed by OpenAI. OpenAI is highly focused on working on the advancements of Artificial Intelligence tools for the betterment of the community.

ChatGPT was deployed on the Agile Model of Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC), where different versions of ChatGPT are launched and tested before deploying the final user model.

Although ChatGPT was developed to be a chatbot that works using AI and natural language processing, the knowledge has been cut off to ChatGPT since September 2021, therefore it cannot answer anything regarding the latest activities or its answers depending on facts before September 2021.

There are 5 versions of ChatGPT:

  1. ChatGPT Version 1
  2. ChatGPT Version 2
  3. ChatGPT Version 3
  4. ChatGPT Version 3.5
  5. ChatGPT Version 4

Each new version contains better bug fixes and has better-answering capabilities than the previous version.

ChatGPT-1: ChatGPT-1 is the first version of the chatbot. It was released in 2019 and it was based on the GPT-2 language model. GPT-2 was a model which was trained on a large dataset of test data. So, ChatGPT-1 is capable of doing basic conversations on a wide range of topics.

ChatGPT-2: ChatGPT-1 can only be considered a basic chatbot. In 2020, Open AI released ChatGPT-2, which is a better and improved version of ChatGPT-1 or chatbot. This version is based on the more accurate and advanced GPT-3 model and it has been trained on even large datasets. ChatGPT-2 was capable of holding complex conversations and was able to provide more accurate answers to user queries.

ChatGPT-3: ChatGPT-3 is an advancement of ChatGPT-2 version. It is also based on the GPT-3 model but it was trained with higher and more accurate datasets than the previous versions. So, it was able to predict and give better answers with high accuracy.

ChatGPT-3.5: ChatGPT-3.5 has two different versions to it, Legacy and Default. Each of the two versions of ChatGPT-3.5 has different capabilities and the user can choose them according to his liking. Legacy is a free version that is available for normal users, Legacy used to be the previous ChatGPT Plus version but now it is made free. Default 3.5 is a paid version that is better than Legacy in some aspects, and this is a paid version that is only available to Plus users.

The above image shows how Legacy is different from Default.

ChatGPT-4: ChatGPT is the most advanced version of all. This is a higher and more accurate feature than all of the other versions. ChatGPT has a higher word processing limit which allows users to process more information. ChatGPT-4 also allows visual inputs where it is capable of reading and understanding the contents of an Image. ChatGPT 4 has a processing word limit of 25,000 words.

Application of ChatGPT in Education:

To solve the doubts of a student, to answer various queries, to give simplified answers to a complex text, and various other ways that can be used to simplify learning experiences are provided by ChatGPT.

ChatGPT will be able to provide answers to mathematical questions.

The above two snapshots are a few examples of how ChatGPT is capable of solving mathematical problems.

Apart from mathematical problems, ChatGPT is capable of writing code for checking whether a given number is palindrome or not and its explanation.

ChatGPT is also capable of explaining topics, depending on your necessities. If you want topics to be made simpler, it produces a simple and easy-to-understand output. If you want it to be a complex and detailed understanding of a topic it produces that too.

Computational codes which can be a huge help for new learners, it can also explain the code which it produces.

Explanation of Euclidean Theorem

Although ChatGPT produces these answers according to our queries, sometimes the answers produced by ChatGPT are not very accurate and can be vague. For new learners, this might cause a problem.

Conclusion:

The advancement of AI is great and is having a high potential, but the extent to which AI should be used should always be kept in mind. In terms of Education, if a student or a learner always depends on ChatGPT for solving his problems and assignments, the learning and problem-solving capabilities of the student gradually decrease which is also a huge problem when seen at a large scale. AI is a necessary evil, we need it but we should not completely depend on it.
